Landlord Review Policy

Tenants can rate and review their council or housing association on our landlord pages. This page explains how that works and how we keep it fair, both to tenants and to landlords.

Who Can Leave A Review

  • Members with a verified account and a home listed on the site.
  • Only for the landlord they named on their own listing.
  • One rating per member for each landlord. Members can update or remove their own rating at any time.

How Ratings Are Shown

Tenants score repairs, communication, value for rent, the neighbourhood and their landlord overall. A landlord's average scores only appear once at least 3 tenants have rated them, so a single rating can't define a landlord.

How Written Reviews Are Checked

Star ratings count straight away. Written reviews (40 to 600 characters) are read by us before they appear. We publish reviews that:

  • describe the tenant's own experience;
  • don't name staff, neighbours or anyone else;
  • make no accusations of crime or wrongdoing, and contain nothing personal or abusive;
  • stay about the landlord, the home and the area.

We may remove a name or a single line that breaks these rules and publish the rest. Reviews we can't publish are never shown, but the tenant's star rating still counts. We don't publish reviews based on whether they are positive or negative.

Fair To Landlords

Reviews are tenants' own views, not ours. They are shown separately from the official figures from regulators and the Housing Ombudsman. Landlords can't pay to remove, change or hide a review. If you are a landlord and think a review breaks these rules, tell us on our Contact page and we'll look at it again.
