About this service

Mutual Home Exchange is a listing and matching platform that helps social housing tenants find potential mutual exchange partners. We are not a party to any tenancy agreement, exchange, or landlord decision, and we do not guarantee any match will result in an exchange.

Accounts

You must provide accurate information and verify your email address. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.

Listings

You must only list a property you are a genuine tenant of, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the information and images you provide.

Sharing Your Listing On Social Media

To help you find a swap, we may share your listing on Mutual Home Exchange's own social media accounts, such as X (Twitter). A post only gives the size and type of your home, its town and the areas you want to move to, with a link to your listing. It never includes your name, contact details, address, photos or your own description. If you would rather your home was not shared, tell us on our Contact page and we will leave it out and remove any post already made.

Mutual exchanges

All mutual exchanges are subject to your landlord's and the other tenant's landlord's approval. Always follow your tenancy agreement and your landlord's mutual exchange process.

Subscriptions

Where paid plans are enabled, plans are paid through PayPal. Auto-renewing plans are billed each month or year until you cancel; one-payment plans are charged once and end by themselves. You can cancel at any time from Your subscription: no further payments are taken, and your home stays listed until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Payments and refunds

Your access starts as soon as your payment is made. Before paying, you ask us to start your access straight away and confirm that you understand this means you lose your 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Because of this, payments are non-refundable, including for any unused part of a month or year. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not refund payments already made.

Your statutory rights are not affected. If something has gone wrong, for example you were charged twice or charged after cancelling, please contact us and we will put it right.

Acceptable use

No harassment, fraud, discrimination, or misleading listings. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

Liability

Mutual Home Exchange is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for the outcome of any exchange arranged between users.

Translations

You can view this site in other languages using the language button at the top of the page. Translations are made automatically by Google and are there to help you understand the site. They may not be exact. These terms, our prices and anything you agree to are written in English, and the English version is the one that applies.
