I wanted to exchange from my flat to one in south london. It was fairly straightforward once I learned what to do. It all really starts with your Landlords. Talk to them, fill out the form. I checked the other people had submitted their exchange application too. The landlord had to reply within a few weeks. Once they gave me the all clear, it was time to seriously decide if I wanted to move to there. I agreed to the swap, so did the other tenants and now I live in South London.
It took quite a while to find the right swap, but we enjoyed searching and seeing what was available. We ended up matching with a like for like house in Plymouth. Don’t give up! We waited nearly 2 years, but it was worth the wait.
This is my second try to find a swap. Been on different websites over the years. My housing officer mentioned this new site, so I thought I would give it a try as well. I guess the more swapper sites I join the greater the chances.
Ha - my new neighbours just moved in from Ipswich. They said they used a mutual exchange website and got lucky. I didn't even know the people here before them wanted to move away. The new people seem nice enough. So I thought I would sign up on here and as many of the council house exchange sites I can find that are free.
