What it's like to live in Market Bosworth

Market Bosworth is a walkable town. The shop, pharmacy, library, schools and the country park are all within roughly half a mile of the centre, so a good deal of everyday life can be done on foot without needing a car for every errand.

Beyond the town, a car makes things easier. The nearest bus station listed is at Methodist Chapel about 2.5 miles away, and there is no railway station within three miles, so longer journeys take planning. If you do not drive, check the current timetables for services from the town itself before you commit, because rural bus frequency varies a lot and it will shape your week.

For anyone commuting, Leicester is roughly twelve miles off, which is a manageable drive but a longer trip by public transport.

Days out here mostly mean getting outside. Market Bosworth Country Park with Bow Pool is the main draw, and Walkies at Osbaston is a mile and a half out if you have a dog.

The pub scene is decent for a small town. The Dixie Arms is in the centre, Bosworth Hall Hotel and Spa is a short walk, and within two miles you also have The Gate Hangs Well, The Royal Arms Hotel and Hercules Revived. For indoor exercise, Spindles Health Club and Gym and the hotel spa are both close by.

Market Bosworth Community Library is right in the middle, with another at Newbold Verdon. Barlestone Community Centre, under two miles away, is the nearest community hall.

Leicestershire as a whole has a strong employment picture. Census 2021 put 58.6 per cent of adults in work, slightly ahead of the England figure of 57.4 per cent, with unemployment at 2.5 per cent against 3.5 per cent nationally. By August 2026, 2.3 per cent of 16 to 64 year olds were claiming unemployment-related benefits, well below the England rate of 4 per cent.

Market Bosworth itself is a small town, so most people look outwards for work. Leicester is around twelve miles away and there are larger towns across Hinckley and Bosworth within driving distance.

If you rely on buses, weigh up your likely commute carefully before swapping, because job options within walking distance will be limited.
