What it's like to live in Coleshill

For a town this size, the school choice is decent. Coleshill C of E Primary School is about 0.2 miles away, with High Meadow Community School, Woodlands School and St Edwards R C Primary all under a mile, and Windy Arbor Primary around 1.5 miles.

Secondaries are all a short journey rather than a walk. WMG Academy for Young Engineers is about 1.9 miles, with John Henry Newman Catholic College and Archbishop Grimshaw School around 2.2 miles and Park Hall Academy about 2.6 miles. The WMG Academy is worth a look if you have a teenager leaning towards engineering.

Outdoors, Cole End Park and nature reserve is around 0.4 miles away, along with Chassieu Walk. Coleshill Community Centre is under a mile, and Kingshurst Youth and Community Centre is a little further for older kids. Children under 16 make up 17.1% of the wider council area.

Coleshill Parkway station is about 1.3 miles from the centre, with Water Orton roughly 2.2 miles away and Marston Green about 3 miles out. That gives you rail options without living on top of a railway line, though you will want a bus, bike or lift to reach the station if walking that far does not suit you.

For buses, Chelmsley Interchange is the main hub, around 1.8 to 1.9 miles away, with several stops serving different routes.

If you drive, the town's position on the eastern side of the conurbation puts a lot of the West Midlands within reach. If you do not drive, plan around the Parkway and the Chelmsley Interchange connections and check the specific routes you would need before you commit to a swap.

Coleshill's centre is well stocked with pubs for its size. The Coleshill, The Red Lion, The Swan Hotel and The Green Man are all within a couple of hundred metres of each other, which makes for an easy night out on foot. Beyond that, nightlife is thin locally, with Banbury Club about 2 miles away, so bigger evenings mean travelling.

For daytime, the parks do a lot of the work. The Croft is barely a hundred metres from the centre, Coleshill Memorial Park is close behind, and Cole End Park gives you a nature reserve within half a mile.

Coleshill Leisure Centre is about 0.8 miles away, and there are smaller gyms and martial arts clubs nearby including immortal mma and Shodan Martial Arts. For bigger shopping trips, Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre is around 1.9 miles and Castle Bromwich Shopping Park about 2.8 miles.

North Warwickshire looks healthy on paper. Some 58.9% of adults in the council area are in work, slightly above the England figure of 57.4%, and unemployment sits at 2.7% against 3.5% nationally. Benefit claimants aged 16 to 64 were around 3% in August 2026, below the England figure of 4%.

Locally, logistics and distribution have a clear presence, with Kuehne+Nagel and an EJ Gallo Winery site about 1.8 miles away. Health services and schools are the other visible employers close to hand.

Because Coleshill sits where it does, plenty of people commute out, using Coleshill Parkway or the road network to reach jobs across Birmingham, Solihull and the surrounding area. Worth working out your realistic journey before you decide.
